It was twenty years ago this month that I first started broadcasting on radio (and boy can't you tell from the photos!) . Born and bred in Ebbw Vale, South Wales I first took up the DJ reigns at University Radio Bath. The station was pumped into the coffee bar, launderettes and Student Union offices so there was no escape - I do like a nice captive audience who aren't allowed to reach the 'off' button!
Following my return to the valleys after graduation, I was keen to feed my radio addiction and so I landed a job in a local hospital radio station (another captive audience) So there I was -Â broadcasting to the patients in a vain attempt to make them feel better. It must have worked because they left in droves, along with the staff (or was it something to do with the hospital closing down?)
After finding gainful employment up here in the North West I was delighted to be asked to join the SCR team at its inception - they haven't been able to get rid of me yet! I'm passionate about local radio and passionate about music - I shall be bringing these two loves of mine together every Friday night, Saturday morning and Sunday night. I do hope you'll be able to join me.
