Back from his success in the first three S.C.R broadcasts. Mike again takes us along the journey of Contemporary Country Music with an insight into the artists, introducing new music, with live studio guests.
He completed a marathon 8 hour continuous performance at the first and then second ‘Southport Dragon Boat Race’ summer (06 & 07) on the town’s Marine Lake, (re-booked for the 08 event) blending announcements and race commentary (30 races) involving 16 teams. The events raised £43,000 for local charities; Mike entertained the crowd of over 1000 with examples of Contemporary Country Music especially imported from the USA where Mike also works.
Mike writes on the unique role Liverpool played in the development of the USA and the basis of Country Music, a regular and long standing contributor to BBC Radio Merseyside, BBC Radio 2, and Internet Broadcasters. He has appeared on BBC Radio 5 live with simultaneous web casts and also on Radio Stations in the USA. June 4th 2007 saw Mike launch at BBC in Liverpool his ‘Country Roots 6LV’ project.
Mike has TV and film experience both in front of and behind the camera with BBC, Granada, and their independent production companies. He has worked with UK Government, The British Film Commission and inbound Hollywood based producers.
Mike presents annually in the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral at a large graduation function, so large that it is split over two nights; this venue has interesting acoustics for any public speaker to master.
Mike has organised and conducted successfully the auctions of many unusual items, finding and encouraging buyers for horses at race nights, footballs to factory contents, huge machine tools to complete restaurant contents, with exploits reaching the Liverpool Daily Post newspaper’s page 3. 8/04/05
